Laptop gaming asus fx503vd-e4082 review năm 2024

Decent at best. Specs are great, build quality and operating noise level not so great. Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2018

Unfortunately this laptop did not meet my expectations. I have a 17" ROG ASUS and a 15" Lenovo Y700, so I was expecting this machine to be at least equivalent. The performance is nice, and the specs are correct (ASUS FX503VD 15.6” FHD Powerful Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad-Core 2.8GHz (Turbo up to 3.8GHz) Processor, 4GB GTX 1050, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 8GB DDR4, Windows 10). The things that stand out compared to my last two gaming laptops and that make it a 3 star (vs. 4 or 5) are:

The good: Performance. This laptop does operate well with the processor and video card, not top tier, so you won't be playing games at full high settings, but you will notice better performance than a 960MX or similar. Upgrade accessibility. They did a good job with the access door to upgrade hard drives and memory, if you're looking to do upgrades, this laptop does make it much easier than ones I've owned in the past. Stays cool. Seems to handle heat well, although I've only used it on a fan cooled laptop pad.

The bad: Build quality/feel. It feels like a really cheap computer. Cheap plastic bezel around the screen, keyboard, undercarriage. Operating noise. The fans will most likely be on full time, even at a low RPM (they are with this one).

Even though on paper it's thinner smaller and lighter than my Lenovo Y700, when sitting next to each other, and putting them into my tight laptop they really end up feeling similar. Also with bag space, there's not a hug difference in fit. Probably because of the more boxy build of this ASUS vs the smooth curved build of the Y700.

The fans are quite loud, even when using moderate operation. In fact, as I type this review I can hear the fans whirring even though I only have Outlook and Firefox open and running. If fan noise bothers you, I'd recommend staying away from this model.

The biggest issue I have is the perceived build quality. On my other laptops, when typing and handling the machine (it's designed to be transported right?) they feel pretty solid. This machine really doesn't feel very solid. When typing the surface around the keyboard even shakes and bends quite a bit more than my other two machines. Also, when I hold it while inserting into my backpack laptop sleeve, I hear cracking as the case flexes and it really gives an impression of poor build quality (unlike my previous ASUS ROG). Almost like I'm not supposed to hold it with the lid closed. The seams where the bottom of the case meets the top of the case are not very clean, again giving an impression of poor build quality (I'll try to post pics).

The speakers are pretty terrible, again compared to my ASUS ROG 17" and my Lenovo Y700 (both of those seem comparable to each other, with decent to good sound).

The screen is pretty good.

Overall I feel it's a solid 3 star laptop. It's not disappointing enough for me to return and pay the restocking fee, but I definitely wouldn't buy it again nor recommend anyone else to buy it. As a note, I'd also not tell someone to NOT buy it, if they are ok with the downsides. I'd recommend something more like the ASUS ROG Strix, if anyone were to ask, much better built machine in person.
