Để nói về giá trị của một hành động, chúng ta có thể dùng dạng -ing với worth. Mệnh đề -ing không làm chủ ngữ mà dùng cấu trúc với chủ ngữ giả it.
Ví dụ:
It’s worth talking to Joe. (Đáng để nói chuyện với Joe.)
It isn’t worth repairing the car. (Không đáng để sửa cái xe này.)
Is it worth visiting Leicester? (Có đáng để đến Leicester không?)

4. It's worth it

Chúng thường dùng It's (not) worth it để nói điều gì đáng làm.
Ví dụ:

5. worthwhile

Worthwile (hay worth while) đôi khi được dùng thay cho worth, đặc biệt để diễn đạt ý 'đáng để dành thời gian'
Ví dụ:
Is it worthwhile visiting Leicester?
(Có đáng dành thời gian thăm Leicester không?)

Có thể dùng động từ nguyên thể sau worthwhile.
Ví dụ:
We thought it might be worthwhile to compare this years' account with last year's. 
(Chúng tôi cho rằng việc so sánh đối chiếu sổ sách năm nay và năm ngoái là đáng làm.)

Chú ý cấu trúc worth somebody's while.
Ví dụ:
Would you like to do some gardening for me? I'll make it worth your while.
(= I'll pay you enough...)

6. Well worth

Worth có thể bổ ngữ cho well.
Ví dụ:
Leicester's well worth visiting.
(Leicester rất đáng để ghé thăm.)

1. Good or important enough to justify taking action

The meaning of ‘It’s not worth + ing’

1. Not good or important enough to justify taking action

e.g. It’s not worth buying a course if you can get the same information for free online.

2. Not as valuable or as important as someone thinks.

e.g. The course costs a lot of money but there’s no feedback, so it’s not worth buying.

Fixed expression ‘It’s not worth it’.

‘Stop worrying about the test. It’s not worth it’.

= the importance does not justify the concern you’re showing.

‘Why are you crying about your ex? He’s not worth it.’

= he doesn’t deserve the time/energy that you’re wasting on him.

As you can see from all the examples above, ‘It’s worth’ can be followed by 

1. a nouns

It’s worth a try.

It’s worth the wait/the time/the trouble.

It’s worth it. (dummy ‘it’)

2. ‘ing’ verbs

It’s worth doing.

When to use ‘worthy’

Meaning: having or showing the qualities that deserve the specified action.

Use: ‘Worthy’ is a much more formal expression and takes ‘of + noun’.

Grammar: ‘be worthy of + noun’.

Example: [Task 2] ‘These issues are worthy of further consideration.’
