Taylor Swift has won big at the Billboard Music Awards, taking home 10 awards in a dominant showing. It comes as little surprise to Swifties as the music icon led with 20 nominations for the BBMAs.

With the BBMAs going digital and Swift touring internationally for her Eras Tour, the singer recorded a message backstage at one of her shows about the accomplishment. Swift thanked all of her fans for their support.

“Well, this is unreal,” she said in the video. “The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards—I’m talking to the fans specifically. None of this happens without you. The Billboards base everything off of what you are listening to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that this year you made The Eras Tour so magical. You went and saw the movie, you cared about my re-recordings. I just love you so much.”

Swift came close to tying with country singer Morgan Wallen, who scored the most wins for the night with 11 wins. Though she was nominated for 20 awards, Swift ultimately scored 10 awards, adding to her illustrious career total.

Swift won both Top Female Artist and Top Artist, beating out Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus for the former and Luke Combs and Drake for the latter. She also won the Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global Artist, Top Country Female Artist, and Top Billboard Global Exclusive U.S. Artist. Her song “Ant-Hero,” which was released on her 2022 album Midnights, also took home the prize for top-selling song.

It was Swift’s third time winning Top Artist and overall her sixth time winning Top Billboard 200 Artist. Swift now has a total of 39 BBMAs for her career, bringing her a special distinction. She’s now tied with Drake, who took home five awards himself, for the most BBMAs ever.

Of her success, Swift is thankful for all of her fans and for her recent accomplishments. She concluded her acceptance speech with, “I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have you in my corner and caring about the music that I make. So thank you—thank you, thank you, thank you 10 million times —for this.”

Taylor Swift cleaned up at another awards show this week. This time it was the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, and Swift took home a total of 10 awards.

She won the coveted top artist spot for the third time in her career — an award she also won in 2013 and 2015.

The musical artist was also the most-nominated artist at this year’s show — she had nominations in 20 different categories. Morgan Wallen was the only artist to take home more awards than Swift, with 11 total awards, per Billboard.

Swift is tied with Drake for the most Billboard Music Awards — both artists have a career total of 39, according to The Tennessean.

Taylor Swift is enjoying one of the biggest weeks of her career, as songs from her new album The Tortured Poets Department claim a record-breaking 14 spots on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The feat surpasses the record she set in 2022, when she became the only artist in history to dominate the Hot 100’s entire Top 10 following the release of Midnights.

With her latest album, the 34-year-old has now achieved her 12th No 1 single in the US with “Fortnights”, the lead track from TTPD, with 13 other songs charting from No 2 to No 14.

The album also topped the charts, meaning Swift is now tied with Jay-Z for the most No 1s by a solo artist (14). It sold 2.6 million units within the first fortnight of its release, the highest sales for any album since Adele’s 2015 LP, 25.

Billboard said traditional album sales, which include digital downloads, CDs, vinyl LPs and cassettes accounted for 1.914 million of the 2.61 million sales. This makes Swift’s by far the top-selling album of 2024, ahead of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, which has sold 228,000 units so far.

The pop titan is also reigning over the charts in the UK, achieving her third double for the third consecutive year as TTPD tops the album chart and “Fortnight” soars to No 1 in the singles chart.

Swift reacted to the news by sharing a series of poloroids with some of her TTPD collaborators, including British musician Florence Welch and rapper/singer Post Malone.

“2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS??” she wrote. “Thank you for listening, streaming and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed.”

She continued: “I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? 9 May can’t come soon enough.”

Swift’s Eras Tour is scheduled to resume with her first European date in Paris on 9 May, with many fans predicting that she will perform at least one or two tracks from TTPD live for the first time.

The Independent’s critic Helen Brown awarded five stars, writing that it was “a terrific reminder of her storytelling powers”.

Many of the songs are believed to be about the star’s brief fling with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, while others delve into her heartbreak over the end of her six-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn.

As well as collaborations with Welch and Post Malone, physical copies of the record include an original poem by Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks, whom Swift namechecks on her song “Clara Bow”.
