All repliesRemote Desktop App stuck on "Configuring remote session" but works well on PCAs I said, the app doesn't work on my phone however it works well on any PC I use. The app was working and I was able to connect a few times but now I cant. I get stuck at "Configuring remote session". I have deleted the PC from the app several times as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the app several times without any luck. I can still access it through a PC however my phone no longer connects for some reason. remote-desktop-servicesremote-desktop-clientComment Comment Show 0 Comment 5 |1600 characters needed characters left characters exceeded

Hmmmm. WTF!?!?! I look in my system events and it's all Event ID 7's from the CD rom. I eject a disc I happen to have been looking around the office for, and RDP immediately starts working normally. I'm cracking. Weekends shouldn't be about this. 1

Wow sounds really odd, is autorun enabled on the optical drive? maybe autorun is locking up. I don't know how this affect RDP, but may be something to look at. Has anything happened since the last time you connected correctly? 0

Were you mapping the CD drive to pull through in the server/dekstop you were logging into? Since it was throwing errors about the CD, and it wouldnt connect?? Possible, I have seen stranger things from windows. 0

when you allow drives to be available on the remote machine that includes the CD-rom drive, and that's why you got that delay 3

Kobi is correct. And speaking of the local resources, when did the "Drives that I plug in later" option come to be? I have always told my users to make sure their flash drives are plugged PRIOR to getting on our terminal servers. I have tested it after and it now shows up immediately. Pretty cool.

I had the same problem. My solution was to lower the resolution in my RDP settings. 0

I had the same issue... it's beyond strange... mine was a DVD... Music & Lyricsand RDP apparently do not go together... maybe Microsoft is not a RomCom fan? 0

I'm having this issue too. Have tried disabling all resources etc. No problem at the server end because any other PC has no problem. Have been working through this all morning now by trying everything I've found on Google and still having no joy. Help! 0

Thanks for the tip Clinovo! My issue was color depth; I had to turn it down from 32bit. 0

I'm having this issue on a brand new 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services implementation. While I won't rule out the possibility that local resources may play a part in the problem, it has a different behavior for me: By default, users connect to the server over RDP 3389 when suddenly new connections start pervasively failing with hanging at "Configuring remote session". Event logs don't tell much of a story on either end. I've added a couple of extra ports for the RDP service, and so while it may hang on connecting to 3389, it will work just fine connecting to one of the alternate ports (3392, for instance). At some point, 3389 will be reactive again - then sometime later, 3392 may start giving the same issue. Sometimes both. So.. I really wish I could find a good lead on the source of this problem. The server is fully updated, DNS is stellar and nothing out of the ordinary has been installed. 0

I had same problem with brand new 2012 R2. Lowering the resolution colour from 32 bit ot 16 bit resolved too. Thanks Clinovo. 0

Had same problem, resolved after restarting the Remote Desktop services on the target host (there are a few services, I just restarted them all). I guess it's well accepted with Microsoft products you have to restart it once in a while 1

Found this thread when I experienced the same issue. None of the previous suggestions worked. When I attempted to restart the RDP services, one of them froze at "Stopping". Had to reboot the host and all is good for the moment. I hope this is not a recurring issue, we just set up RDP on this machine yesterday afternoon. 0

im running new proliant gen 9 servers with windows 2012 (Not R2) and mine was doing this as well. Once i get this from one client, i can go to another and its the same. Howevever, when i log into the server again from the console at the rack, all works again everywhere. Very strange indeed. 0

For me it turned out to be IOBit Advanced System Care, installed on the Windows 2012 Server by the office manager. I had installed the rather good IOBit Start Menu on the server but somehow Advanced System Care got installed at a later date. Once removed we can go in first time, every time. 0

For me the issue was that i've disabled virtual memory and the machine reached memory limit during boot which probably caused some service to crash at start-up. Could login to console and memory usage was not as high as just after boot. So, increasing memory allocated to my VM resolved my RDP issue. 0

We've seen this happen with buggy audio drivers - even if Remote Desktop connection is explicitly set to not use audio (go figure). Disabling audio drivers one at a time often gets us past this. 0
