Table of Contents The US has some of the busiest airports in the world, but which ones are THE busiest?
Here’s a mega-list of the 200 busiest airports in the US ordered from most busy to least busy.
2020 monthly figures are based on the airports own reporting of their traffic numbers. Yearly figures are based on the most recent 2019 enplaned passenger figures from the US Dept of Transportation.
Which airport is the busiest in the United States?
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the busiest airport in the United States. It handles 53.4 million passengers on 362,713 flights per year. That’s almost 1,000 flights per day. This makes Atlanta one of the busiest airports in the world.
Atlanta was also the busiest airport in the US in 2018. In 2018, it handled 51.8 million passengers.
Atlanta saw 3.2% increase in passenger numbers between 2018 and 2019.
What are the top 5 busiest airports in the United States?
- Atlanta International Airport – 53.4 million passengers
- Los Angeles International Airport – 42.8 million passengers
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport – 40.8 million passengers
- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport – 35.7 million passengers
- Denver International Airport – 33.6 million passengers
