I am right now in a situation where I'm getting this 100% of the time and it is not related to the El Capitan hang issue. Note that each time I reboot the Pixhawk I get some different behavior. In the current state, I can make a standard (serial) connection, read some bytes and be done with it just fine (code below). However, if I launch QGC, I get this Vehicle did not respond to request for parameters, retrying error. Every time with no exception.

Note that the connection itself is working fine. There were no delays. I booted QGC and it immediately connected and started receiving data from the flight controller. Only the parameters are "hung". You can see that the MavLink inspector shows messages coming in just fine:

In this one instance, since the last reboot of the Pixhawk, I am getting this QGC behavior consistently 100% of the time while not having any (serial connection) issues connecting to the Pixhawk when using something else.
