Hi there,

I'm running a one day old Asus laptop which is throwing blue screens constantly.

Background: bought it, installed windows 10 PRO and kept getting blue screens. I reinstalled windows and again, I got constant blue screens. Some of the stop codes that I was able to see were:

  • DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
  • IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
  • KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
  • There was one more but I can't remember if DRIVER_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or DRIVER_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

After some searches on google, I ran the memory diagnostic extended 2 times and no error came back. I also used the chkdsk and same, nothing found.

Today, I reinstalled Windows the 3rd time but this time I went with Home instead of Pro. Same story, blue screens but this time it's only:

I have updated to the latest drivers and all windows updates.

Does it make sense to run this: http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html if I already ran the windows incorporated?

Thank you

I don't know if Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App  is showing anything since I ran it after a system restore (I couldn't login otherwise). I just got 3 more blue screens in the last 10 minutes with DRIVER_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Should I run that again and attach the new zip?

Definitely not an expert but you make out like this is a "brand new" laptop yet since you had to install Windows 10 I'm guessing it was purchased from someone and then you installed it? That might make a big difference.

Hi Jazzgirl,

No, this was bought from the store but it does not come with any OS. I got W10 from Microsoft and installed it myself

Hi Pkshadow,

Yes, I have installed everything from the Asus drivers list for my laptop

Too much going on for me.  Am not that great at Dump Files.    There is a Windows Roll-up Update that has problems, Blitz.exe,  DtsApo4Service.exe  beyond that I could be hours and not understand it all.

So on that note will have to wait until someone comes along that reads Dump Files as we have experts.  Patience please :=}

As I understand, above links are for info only and I shouldn't do anything yet, right?

Also, I am curious about one thing. How is it possible for so many things to fail even after installing Windows 3 times? I have never in my life had one blue screen. My old laptop has W10 installed for years and runs peachy. Can it be a damaged USB stick? Should I try to install Windows again using a new stick?

Two of your kernel dump files pointed to this driver: rtwlane.sys

I understand that this is a Realtek Wireless driver. So make sure you have the latest driver installed.

Hi, no the info there is to be used with description as to how it will work out on your system.

I did notice you say you installed Win Home and it is a WIn Pro License if understand correctly.

Suggest format 1 more time and stick back the Pro due to License issues and confusion when updating.  This may start problems further along.

Why getting crashed out is a possibility that after you have installed the drivers from your Support Page Windows downloads Microsoft Drivers.

So to stop that do the new install with Pro then do this within Group Policy which can not be done with Home :  https://www.windowscentral.com/how-stop-updates-installing-automatically-windows-10

This should ensure no issues from MS but during your install of drivers install 1 and reboot, install another and reboot. This will insure less issues also.

Also, try testing your memory with MemTest86+.

This is a more thorough test than the windows diagnostic.

Let it run through at least 8 passes - so best to let it run overnight.

Memory test

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

The following link explains how to run test:

MemTest86+ - Test RAM | Tutorials (tenforums.com)

And you can test the hard drive using the inbuilt system diagnostic as explained in step 3 here.

Further to Ram, if need to replace suggest do so from the approved list on the Support Page and as well you only have 8gigs and laptops need 16gig to perform at their best.

As well being a ASUS just should stick more in for long term forward thinking.
